Newcastle United full-back Kieran Trippier has announced his retirement from international football after 54 appearances.
He was part of the side that reached the final of Euro 2024 this summer. But has decided it is time to retire from international football.
“When I was a lad from Bury I never thought I’d be playing for my country, let alone playing 54 times. It has been one of the great honours. Of my life to represent my country in four major tournaments,” Trippier posted on ยูฟ่าเบท. “I would like to thank Gareth and all the staff
who work for England for the belief they have shown in me over the years. “Thank you
to all my mates. We’ve had some incredible times together, reaching two Euros finals and a World Cup semi-final. I’m sure this group of players will be able to win big trophies in the future. “I would like to wish
Lee Carsley, the coaching staff and the team all the best for the future. “Finally,
a big thank you to all the England fans for their incredible support as they travell around the world to cheer us on. And it got us through some tough times,”
Trippier earned his first cap for the Three Lions in 2017 and his only goal for the Three Lions came from a free-kick in the 2018 World Cup semi-final defeat to Croatia.
